California Miniature
Schnauzer Rescue
—Rescued Dogs In New Homes 2015

California Miniature Schnauzer Rescue re-homed more than 110 Miniature Schnauzers and other dogs during 2014.

We thank our volunteers, our fosters, and our donors. Without their wonderful help, many of those dogs would have died instead of enjoying their lives in great new homes.

95 Dogs Adopted in 2015

Rescue Chihuahua Mix Pippen

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Roxxy

Pippen is a super nice Chihuahua mix who was surrendered to the Lancaster shelter, along with buddies Kipper, an about 7 year old Labrador mix, and Bear, an about 14 year old Chow mix. The rescue was a joint effort with Rags to Wags rescue.

Pippen is about 2 years old and weighs about 10 lbs.

Pippen is a happy little guy who loves people and other dogs.

Pippen is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Rags to Wags found a foster for Pippen. As was inevitable with a dog as sweet as Pippen, the foster became a “failed foster” who adopted Pippen. Thanks very much to Rags to Wags for finding Pippen a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Roxxy

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Roxxy

Roxxy is a 6 year old purebred salt and pepper Miniature Schnauzer who we rescued from the Baldwin Park shelter. She weighs about 20 lbs, but her ideal weight would be about 18 lbs. Roxxy was at the shelter for 15 days. She had a microchip and the shelter notified her owners. They phoned on Roxxy's 14th day at the shelter and said they were coming for her but then never showed up, so we rescued her.

Roxxy seems very sweet. She seems to get along well with other dogs.

Roxxy is spayed, up to date on all of her vaccinations, and microchipped. She needs a grooming which we hope to get done soon, but she is clearly a pretty little girl.

Roxxy was adopted on December 24, 2015 by a family who lost their last Schnauzer about a year ago.

Rescue Schnauzer Olive

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer OlivePhoto of Rescue Schnauzer Olive

Olive is a purebred salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer with natural ears and a docked tail. We rescued Olive from the Orange County shelter. We estimate her age at about 4. She weighs about 15 lbs.

Olive was snappy when we first got her but she has calmed down a lot and has become affectionate. However, she would not be suitable for a home with small children. She gets along well with other dogs, and seems to be okay with cats.

Olive appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Olive was adopted on December 18, 2015 by a family from Lancaster who has previously adopted from us.

Rescue Schnoodle Bella

Photo of Rescue Schnoodle Bella Photo of Rescue Schnoodle Bella

Bella is just about the cutest little 12 pound, 7–9 years old schnoodle you'll ever see. That being said, she is a rescue who in her former life experience has learned not to automatically trust humans. She is very capable of bonding and becoming your best friend and companion—BUT she needs a human with dog experience and know how. Oh—and patience...Bella takes a while to feel secure and relax into the wonderful companionable relationship she is capable of. You must be willing to give her several weeks—maybe even a few months to learn to trust you.

Bella loves walks and would be thrilled to have her own back yard to play in. She is good with small dogs and would probably work well with another small dog to show her the ropes in her new environment. She would do best in a home with (an) adult(s) and she would love to have someone with her or be able to go with her new human as much as possible. She rides well in the car and is a quiet companion in the house. Bella barks at large passing vehicles, occasional livestock (while in the car) and at strangers and large dogs. She does not like large dogs and is sometimes aggressive toward them.

Give this little one your heart and she will give you hers.

Bella appears to be healthy with normal lab work. She is up to date on immunizations and is microchipped.

Bella was adopted in mid-December 2015 by a family from Fairfield.

Rescue Schnauzer Molly

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Molly Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Molly

Molly is a 6 year old female purebred salt and pepper Miniature Schnauzer. She weighs about 17 lbs.

Molly is a sweet love bug, who will come and cuddle with you nightly and is also crate and house trained. She loves to play ball, and toss around her squeaky toys.

Molly came to us from a home with 3 dog brothers and 1 dog sister. She got along great with the boys, all under 20 lbs and mixed breeds, but not with the other female dog who is under 10 lbs. Both girls wanted to be dominant and that led to a few bad fights. Molly can be nippy with toddlers but likes older kids.

Molly is spayed, up to date on all of her vaccinations, microchipped with Home Again and has seen the vet regularly. She has a tendency to get small schnauzer bumps on her back but they are controlled with Malaseb medicated shampoo. She is used to being groomed every 5–6 weeks and loves to be brushed.

Molly was adopted on December 14, 2015 by a gentleman from Anaheim whose Schnauzer had recently passed away.

Rescue Schnauzer Wally

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer WallyPhoto of Rescue Schnauzer Wally

Wally is a purebred black Miniature Schnauzer. He is about 5 years old. He weighs about 17 lbs.

Wally is friendly with people and likes kids, but does not get along well like other dogs or cats.

Wally seems to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Wally was adopted on December 7, 2015. Thanks very much to our friends at Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue near Seattle, WA. for finding Wally a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Bethany

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Bethany Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Bethany

Bethany is a quiet, well-behaved 8 year old Miniature Schnauzer who we rescued from the Baldwin Park shelter with a broken tibia (the middle bone in the hind leg). A big thank you to Hope for Paws for kindly helping with Bethany's surgical expense!

Bethany is quiet and would make a great companion for a retired person. She has been very patient in complying with her cage rest requirements, but one can see flashes of her sense of humor and desire to be able to get out and play with the other dogs.

Bethany weighs about 15 lbs. She is in good health. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations, and she has had a dental done.

Bethany looks a bit weird right now because someone shaved off the front of her face and beard before we got her. She will look a lot prettier once they fully grow back in.

Bethany was adopted on December 6, 2015 by a family from La Cañada, so she moved only about 4 miles from her foster home.

Rescue Terrier Bambi

Photo of Rescue Terrier Puppy Roxie Photo of Rescue Terrier Puppy Roxie

Bambi is a very cute terrier puppy who we rescued from the Baldwin Park shelter when she was sick and very scared. She is healthy now and, as you can see in the photo where her tail is blurred because she was wagging it so fast, she is a happy girl now. Bambi is about one year old and weighs about 13 lbs.

Bambi is friendly and gets along well with other dogs. We have not had her around kids yet, but she'd probably be okay so long as they are gentle with her.

Bambi appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Bambi was adopted in November 2015. Thanks very much to our friends at Rags to Wags Rescue in Calabasas for finding Bambi a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Manny

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Manny Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Manny

Manny is a super sweet and very good looking purebred salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer. Manny (short for Manolo Blahnik) is available because his owner lives in an apartment, where the new owner of the building has changed the pet policy and will no longer allow dogs. So, she needs to find a new home for him.

Manny is 9 years old. He has natural ears and a docked tail. He's 17 pounds. His beard was mistakenly trimmed, but it is on the path to re-growth.

Manny likes everyone and gets along with kids and other dogs. He is a great lap dog, and goes to his bed or to his crate easily on command. Manny loves attention and, with a couple of love-pats on his behind, he's quick to roll over on his back with hopes for belly rubs.

Manny likes to look out the window and—typical of the breed—will let you know when someone comes to the front door.

Manny is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his shots. His medical history is available all the way back to when he was a puppy. At a recent vet check-up, the doctor said he looks to be in good health and she did not recommend any lab work (except a heart worm test, which tested fine). The vet said his dental looks good and doesn’t need a recheck for a year or two. (She also commented about his good disposition and good looks.)

Manny was adopted on November 22, 2015. Thanks to Patrick Crips and Steve Hoppe for finding him a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Calvin

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Calvin Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Calvin

Calvin is a very sweet Schnauzer mix who is about 2 years old and weighs about 24 lbs. We rescued him from the Chula Vista shelter.

Calvin was terrified of people when we got him, though he loved other dogs. He never snapped or bit, however, no matter how scared he was. When cornered and picked up, he made it clear that he would much prefer to be put down again, but he never tried to bite.

Calvin has come a long way since we got him, though he is still scared around people he does not know. He needs a home where he will be loved and exposed to new situations so that he can build his self confidence.

Calvin appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and heartworm negative.

Calvin was adopted on December 2, 2015. Thanks very much to our friends at Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue for helping Calvin find a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Lucas

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Lucas Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Lucas

Lucas is a fun, energetic little boy and cute as can be. He is about 5 years old and average size for a male Miniature Schnauzer (roughly 15 lbs).

Lucas knows his basic skills and is potty trained. He has a big personality with a little attitude. He loves people and affection (loves kisses). He gets along with other dogs, but with his big personality can be a bit of a bully. He is learning better manners with his foster family and will need his forever home to continue with his socialization.

Lucas is in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Lucas was adopted by a family from San Jose on November 29, 2015.

Rescue Schnauzer Blue

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Blue Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Blue

Blue is a friendly little guy. He likes people and other dogs. We haven't had him around cats yet.

Blue appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Dillon

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix DillonPhoto of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Dillon Dillon is a 2 year old Miniature Schnauzer / Terrier mix, who we rescued from the Orange County shelter. He weighs about 15 lbs.

Dillon is a bit on the timid side but warms up quickly to people who try to make friends with him. He gets along with other dogs.

Dillon would be best in a quiet home without very young children.

Dillon is neutered, mcirochipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Dillon was adopted on November 21, 2015. Thanks very much to our friends at Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue for helping find him a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Brandi

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Brandi Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Brandi

Brandi is a cute, quiet, well-behaved Miniature Schnauzer who we rescued from the Bonita shelter southeast of San Diego. Brandi had been hit by a car and couldn't stand up when she arrived at the shelter. Fortunately, nothing was broken and Brandi was her happy little self once again after a few days on painkillers. Brandi is a tiny Schnauzer, only about 12 lbs, proving once again that good things come in small packages. The shelter estimated Brandi's age at 3, but she appears to be only about 1 year old. In fact, Brandi still had a retained puppy tooth when we got her which was loose enough to push out by hand. Brandi has natural ears and an undocked tail.

Brandi loves to cuddle with people and loves to play with other dogs. We have not had her around cats or small kids yet, but we suspect she'd love them so long as they were nice to her.

Brandi appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

Brandi was adopted on November 19, 2015 by a couple who previously adopted Paris and Milo from us.

Rescue Schnoodle Gregory

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Gregory Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Gregory

Gregory is a sweet Schnauzer /Poodle mix who we rescued with a broken femur. We were about to pull Gregory from the LA County Carson shelter when they determined that he should have been brought to the South LA (City) shelter, so he was stuck in that shelter for another two weeks with his broken leg before we could get him out. His leg was repaired, he has fully healed and he is ready for a new home.

Gregory is about 1 year old and weighs about 15 lbs. He loves both people and other dogs. He is medium energy, playful but not overwhelming.

Gregory is in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Gregory was adopted on November 8, 2015 by a family in Pacifica, who have had Schnauzers in the past.  They have no other pets so he will have their full attention.

Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Linus

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Linus Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Linus

Linus is one of five 8 month old parti-colored Miniature Schnauzer puppies who were surrendered to us by their breeder and owner who was unable to care for them. Like the others, Linus has natural ears and a docked tail. He weighs about 14 lbs.

Their prior owner did not properly socialize the puppies, so they were very timid when we got them, but they are starting to get more social.

Linus appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Linus was adopted on November 8, 2015 by a family from Long Beach. Linus joins a 2 1/2 year old Schnauzer Shih Tzu mix named Russell.

Charlie came to us with Chip and Colton from the Chula Vista shelter, which was overflowing with dogs and asked for our help. Charlie is about 3 years old and weighs about 16 lbs. He has natural ears and a docked tail.

Charlie is as nice a dog as you could ever find. He loves people and gets along well with other dogs. We haven't had him around toddlers or cats yet, but we suspect he'd be fine with both so long as they were friendly with him.

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Winnie Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Winnie

Winnie is a cute-as-a-button Schnauzer-Terrier mix, who we rescued from the Orange County shelter. Winnie is about 1 1/2 years old and weighs about 7 lbs.

Winnie can be a bit snappy around strangers who approach her too quickly, but take a couple of minutes to make friends and she will be your best friend forever. She enjoys playing with people and with other dogs. She probably would not be good, though, in a home with young children.

Winnie appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Winnie was adopted in early November 2015 by a family from Washington State. A big thank you to our friends at Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue for finding a great new home for Winnie.

Rescue Schnauzer Colton

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer ColtonPhoto of Rescue Schnauzer Colton

Colton is a purebred salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer with natural ears and tail The shelter estimated his age as 8 based on the fact that his teeth were all crudded up. That's probably about right, though he acts much younger.

Colton's beard has been shaved off. However, he has a beautiful head and will be a very handsome dog when the beard grows back.

Colton is a polite, friendly dog who loves to play. He gets along well with other dogs. We haven't had him around children or cats yet, but we suspect he'd love them so long as they were nice to him.

Roxie is a sweet terrier mix puppy, who is a bit timid with strangers but who quickly warms up to anyone, human, canine or feline, who is willing to play with her. Roxie was adopted at 2 months of age by an elderly lady who found an active puppy was too much for her, and therefore surrendered Roxie to us. Roxie is about 8 months old and weighs about 15 lbs.

Roxie likes kids so long as they are gentle with her.

Roxie appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Roxie was adopted in September 2015. Thanks to our friends with Rags to Wags Rescue in Calabasas for finding Roxie a great new home.

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer StanPhoto of Rescue Schnauzer Stan

Stan is a 1 year old purebred white Miniature Schnauzer who came to us with kennel cough from the South Los Angeles shelter. Stan has cropped ears and a docked tail. He weighs 17 lbs.

Stan is an uber friendly dog. He gets along well with other dogs. We have not had him around kids or cats yet, but we are fairly sure he would be fine with them too.

The first photo shows Stan right after he arrived at his new foster home when he decided the place looked okay. The second shows Stan a few minutes later after he realized that this was going to be the Ritz Carlton compared to the shelter.

Stan appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Stan was adopted by a couple from Mission Viejo on September 4, 2015.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Sam

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Sam Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Sam

Sam is a sweet Schnauzer-Lhasa mix who we rescued from the South Los Angeles shelter. Poor Sam had multiple fractures to his pelvis, including one through his hip joint. With much appreciated financial help from Hope for Paws, we were able to have Dr. Balfour repair the fractures. Sam is now healed up and ready for a new home. The shelter estimated his age at 3, but we think he is more like 2 years old. He weighs 16 lbs.

Sim is quiet, friendly and gets along well with other dogs. We haven't had him around kids yet but he'd probably be fine with older, gentle children.

Sam appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchippedand, and up to date on vaccinations.

Sam was adopted in early September 2015. Thanks very much to our friends at SoHumane in Medford, OR for finding Sam a great new home.

Rescue Terrier Dobie Gillis

Photo of Rescue Terrier Dobie Gillis Photo of Rescue Terrier Dobie Gillis

Dobie Gillis is the size and shape of an Irish Terrier with the markings of a Doberman Pinscher. So, we named him Dobie Gillis. The shelter aged Dobie at 1 year, 4 months, but he seems younger than that. Dobie weighs about 20 lbs. He came to us from the San Bernardino County shelter in Devore.

Dobie is a happy little guy who loves everyone and everything. He loves to play and give kisses. In short, he is one of the nicest dogs we've ever rescued. We haven't had Dobie around children or cats, but we suspect he'd be fine with them.

Dobie appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on DA2P vaccinations.

Dobie was adopted in late August 2015. Thanks very much to our friends at Animal Rescue of Fresno (ARF) who helped Dobie find his new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Captain Brass

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Captain Brass Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Captain Brass

Captain Brass is a purebred salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer. He is 6½ years old. He is one of 4 Schnauzers who was surrendered to us by a breeder in Bakersfield who is no longer able to care for her dogs.

Captain Brass is very affectionate. He gets along well with other Schnauzers and loves to play ball. He has lived most of his life with a single woman and other dogs, so he tends to be more hesitant around men and children, but quickly warms up to them if they are nice to him.

Captain Brass appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and had his teeth cleaned recently.

Captain Brass was adopted on August 2, 2015 by a family from northern California who also have a 4 year old Schnauzer.

Rescue Schnauzer Jack

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Jack Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Jack

Jack is a purebred black Miniature Schnauzer. He was born 11/4/2014, making him a little over 8 months old.
Jack weighs about 14 lbs now and will likely weigh about 18–20 lbs full grown. His former owner could not keep Jack because her older dogs did not like him and were attacking him.

Jack is a high energy, playful dog. His owner is teaching him “down” and to sit on command. Jack is crate trained and sleeps a full 7 to 8 hrs at night. Jack's foster is working on house training him. His foster is working with him on leash training but Jack still tends to pull

Jack likes to chew on his squirrel toy and his Kong but he does not chew on any non-toy items. He loves all kinds of stuffed animals and will take all of them out of the basket and scatter them all over the living room.

Jack seems to like everyone he meets so children should be fine so long as they are not rough with him.

Jack appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Jack was adopted on August 5, 2015 by a family from Reno with a Giant Schnauzer.

Rescue Schnauzer Scout

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer ScoutPhoto of Rescue Schnauzer Scout

Scout is a purebred salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer. She has natural ears and a docked tail. We rescued Scout from the Orange County shelter. She is a big girl, weighing a little more than 20 lbs. Her former owners said she was 9 years and 8 months old.

Scout is one of the nicest Miniature Schnauzers we've ever met. She loves anyone who shows her any attention and gets along well with other dogs. We haven't had her around kids, but she'd almost certainly be fine with any child who was nice to her.

Poor Scout was badly neglected by her prior owners. Her teeth were in bad shape. Worse, her bladder was packed with urinary stones—1 1/2 lbs of stones! We had surgery done to remove the stones as soon as we got Scout and had a dental done as soon as she recovered from the surgery.

Scout appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations.

Scout was adopted on July 28, 2015 by a wonderful couple who had adopted Lonnie from us a few years ago. (Sadly, Lonnie has passed away.) Scout joins Billy a male Schnauzer in her new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Kevin

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Kevin Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Kevin

Kevin is a sweet, quiet, gentle and happy 20-lb., 10-year-old Miniature Schnauzer. To meet him is to love him!

Kevin is affectionate, enjoys attention, is nice with other dogs and he loves to hang around the action. His vet exam and blood work showed he's healthy and he just had a full dental so he's ready for his new home.

If you're looking for a wonderful buddy, Kevin is the guy for you. You can see Kevin in his video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTthLtltM_Y

CMSR rescued Kevin from the Kern County shelter and had him neutered and a dental done. Our friends at New Beginnings for Animals in Mission Viejo, who have had great success in placing senior Schnauzers, then undertook to find a home for him.

Kevin was adopted on July 27, 2015 by a single lady from Orange County, who saw Kevin's courtesy listing on this website. Kevin joins her female Schauzer, Indi. Thanks very much to New Beginnings for Animals for their help in fostering and placing Kevin.

Rescue Schnauzer Max

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Max Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Max

Max, a purebred Miniature Schnauzer (about 4 years old), came to us in desperate need of help and love. Although scared and uncomfortable due to severe matting from not being groomed in months, he was trusting and affectionate to all who were helping him.

After a proper vet examination and a good full shave (Schnauzer beard already growing back), we were thrilled to find that Max was in great health. Over just a matter of a few days, Max started to get comfortable and show his true self… a 23 pound bundle of love and energy! This guy absolutely loves people. He is not shy at all about giving affection, and definitely appreciates some in return.

Max loves his daily walks, playing with toys, or just running around the yard being silly. He can also slow it down and likes climbing up in your lap to nap for a while. He knows some basic commands like sit, and seems to be very trainable (he is both treat and praise motivated). He is potty trained, and while he prefers to be hanging out with the family, he does fine in either a crate or X-pen when you cannot be with him. Max is in good physical condition, and has some of the most soulful eyes you’ll ever see!

Max appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Max was adopted on July 26, 2015 by a family from Santa Cruz. He joins Mignon who they previously adopted from us.

Rescue Schnauzer Biggie

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Biggie Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Biggie

Biggie is a purebred salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer with natural ears and a docked tail. Hope for Paws rescued him after he was abandoned and asked us to take him. Of course, we said yes. Biggie appears to be about 3 to 4 years old. He weighs about 16 lbs.

Biggie is quiet but very friendly and gets along with other dogs.

Biggie appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations.

Biggie (now called Jedi) was adopted on July 22, 2015 by a retired couple from San Diego who have a female Schnauzer to keep Biggie/Jedi company. He will likely prefer the weather in San Diego to that in Palmdale. (Who wouldn't?)

Rescue Schnauzer Eric

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer EricPhoto of Rescue Schnauzer Eric

Eric is a purebred salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer. He appears to be between 1 and 2 years old. He has natural ears and a docked tail. Eric came to us from Ensenada rescuer Ana Luisa Villaescusa. He weighs about 20 lbs.

Eric is an effusively friendly guy. He loves to play, and gets along well with other dogs. We haven't had him around children, but we suspect he'd be fine with them.

Eric was hobbling around on 3 legs when we got him, holding one of his front legs in the air. We had xrays taken. They showed that nothing was broken but that he had a deformed toe. We had the toe surgically removed. Unfortunately, that did not solve the problem. Eric is still holding the leg in the air, but he races around the yard amazingly fast on his other 3 legs and does not seem bothered in the least in using only 3 legs. Our vet thinks that continuing to massage his leg and to stretch his tendons may help, but cannot say for sure whether Eric will ever put weight on the leg.

Eric appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations.

Eric was adopted on July 11, 2015 by a family from Fresno. He joins two other dogs with whom is is quickly becoming fast friends. His adopters will look into whether physical therapy will help Eric put weight on his leg.

Rescue Schnauzer Lola

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Lola Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Lola

Lola is a loving, loyal dog who loves to cuddle. She'll be celebrating her 3d birthday in July. Lola was adopted from a breeder in an abusive home and is troubled because of it. She has worked extensively with a trainer and her behavior and demeanor have greatly improved, but she is still afraid of large dogs and small children. She is very playful with dogs her size and gets along well with cats.

Lola is an impressively intelligent dog with an acute ability to learn new behaviors and tricks. She is completely potty trained and has never had an accident. She is crate trained as well and feels safe and comfortable in her crate in all settings (camping, traveling, or at home). She has a bag of tricks that she gladly performs for treats. She loves peanut butter-stuffed Kongs, hiking, and chasing ice cubes across the kitchen floor.

Lola is an incredible, loving pup. She is well trained but training will be a lifelong process for her. She needs structure, love and a new family to love her for life.

Lola is in good health. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Lola was adopted on June 14, 2015 by a family from Folsom.

Prince Evan is a super friendly dog who loves people and gets along with other dogs. The shelter notes say "no kids," but we do not know the basis of that comment, since we have not had him around kids.

Prince Evan appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Prince Evan was adopted in mid-June by a family from Oregon. A big thank you to our friends at Animal Rescue of Fresno (ARF) for finding Prince Evan a great new home.

Elliott was adopted on June 11, 2015 by a gentleman from Hollywood.

Suzie is a cute terrier mix who we pulled from the Upland shelter. Suzie is about 2 to 3 years old and weighs about 15 lbs.

Suzie is a friendly little dog and gets along with other dogs. She'd likely be best, however, in a home without small kids.

Suzie appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Suzie was adopted on May 20, 2015. A big thank you to our friends at Animal Rescue of Fresno (ARF) for finding Suzie a great new home.

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix RexPhoto of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Rex

Seamus is a white Miniature Schnauzer with a docked tail and natural ears. He is about 2 years old. Seamus is a handsome boy as can be seen from his new photos.

We rescued Seamus from the Burbank shelter. The staff there said he was a nice boy but a little independent/aloof. They thought he might be ok with an older/calmer dog who would give him his space. They did not know how he would be with cats. Seamus has become more affectionate since we got him. We also gave him a “cat scan” by the cats in the grooming room and the cats think Seamus is okay.

He should be ok with respectful older kids but is probably not suitable for a home with young kids. He will make a good walking/hiking partner. Seamus will need some house breaking.

Seamus appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Betty is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

Betty was adopted in mid-March 2015. A HUGE THANK YOU to our friends at Muttville for finding Betty a new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Trixie

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Trixie Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Trixie

Trixie is a darling little Miniature Schnauzer who we rescued from the Long Beach shelter. Trixie loves people and gets along well with both dogs and with cats.

Trixie had cataracts in both eyes. She seemed to be able to see enough not to bump into walls, etc., but not much more. We learned that surgery to let Trixie see again would cost about $4,000.

Trixie had her cataract surgery on Thursday, January 8, 2015. The surgeon performed phacoemulsification (ultrasonically emulsifying and removing the cataract--all of the lens contents inside the capsule).

Optimally, after the cloudy lens is removed, an artificial replacement lens, called an intraocular lens or IOL, is placed in the empty lens capsule. However, when the cataract has been present too long, as proved to be the case for Trixie, the capsule becomes compromised and a lens cannot be inserted.

Fortunately, about two thirds of the focusing is done with the cornea and only one third with the lens. The result is that Trixie will still see much better than before, but she will be more far-sighted than if a lense could have been inserted, and near objects will be out of focus.

We were of course hoping for the best possible result, but Trixie should still be able to enjoy a normal dog life even if she will be unable to operate an iPhone.

A BIG thank you to everyone who donated towards the cost of Trixie's surgery, Between the donations on GoFundMe and other donations made directly to CMSR, the pre-surgery and surgery costs were covered, with a little left over for the inevitable post-surgery expenses.

All we ask now is that everyone say a prayer that Trixie's eyesight proves to be as good as the surgeon thinks it is.

Trixie lived for several months with a foster in the San Jose area, who adopted Trixie. She joins Timmy who her adopter adopted from us in October 2014.

Sugar is a purebred salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer with cropped ears and a docked tail, who we rescued from the shelter in Irvine. She is 8 years old. She is on the smaller side, probably around 12 to 13 lbs.

Sugar is a bit on the timid side, but very affectionate. She was surrendered to the shelter along with a Boston Terrier and two cats by her owner who was no longer able to care for her animals. Thus, we know that Sugar gets along with both dogs and cats and that she is housebroken.

Sugar appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Sugar was adopted on February 15, 2015 by a family from Los Angeles who have a 12 year old male Miniature Schnauzer.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Lainey

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Lainey

Lainey is a Miniature Schnauzer mix who we rescued from the Pasadena Humane Society. She is about 4 years old and weighs about 18 lbs.

Lainey is a bit cautious with strangers but quickly warms up to anyone who shows her a little love. Lainey gets along with other dogs. She would likely be best in a home without small children who might frighten her.

Lainey is in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Lainey was adopted on February 5, 2015 by a lady from Quartz Hill who had adopted from us before. She looked at several other dogs first, but when she saw Lainey, she said "That's the one." Fortunately, the attraction was mutual.

Rescue Schnauzer Dory

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer DoryPhoto of Rescue Schnauzer Dory

Dory is a sweet light silver colored Miniature Schnauzer who is about 5 years old and weighs about 17 lbs. She has natural ears and a docked tail.

CMSR and Hope for Paws rescued Dory from the LA North Central shelter on December 13 with a broken ulna (front leg), and took her straight to surgery. In fact, it was only about 8 hours from the time we first heard about Dory until her surgery had been completed! The surgery went very well. The bones were easy to align because the break was fresh.

Dory had her final exam and xrays on January 24 and is ready to be adopted.

Dory is friendly with people and likes other dogs, particularly Dickens to whom she has taken a shine. She was somewhat subdued when we first got her but her personality is starting to shine and she has become much more lively and fun.

Dory appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Dory was adopted on February 3, 2015 by a family from Fremont. Dory joins a Yorkie mix whose companion passed away about a month ago. Hopefully, Dory and the Yorkie will soon become fast friends.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Owen

Owen is a sweet litte Schnauzer / Terrier mix, who we and Hope for Paws rescued from the Orange County shelter with a crushed pelvis. He is about 1 to 2 years old. Owen is fairly small, weighing about 12 lbs.

Owen loves people and other dogs. We haven't had him around small children or cats, but we think he'd probably be okay with them.

Owen had surgery for his crushed pelvis on October 23, 2014. He had his final visit with his surgeon and his final xrays on December 6, 2014. He is now certified as GOOD TO GO!

Owen appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Owen was adopted on January 18, 2015 by a lady who found him on this website. She has another dog to keep Owen company.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Bowie

Bowie is one of the nicest dogs we have ever rescued. He is a Schnauzer / Lhasa mix. We and Hope for Paws rescued Bowie from the Los Angeles North Central shelter with a fractured pelvis. He is about 1 to 2 years old, and weighs about 16 lbs.

Bowie loves people and other dogs. We haven't had him around small children or cats, but we think he'd probably be okay with them. And he is one of the best behaved dogs we have ever rescued. He was very hairy and matted when we rescued him and he was a good sport about being groomed even though he was not feeling great

Bowie was xrayed on January 6. The vet said he needed about 2 more weeks of cage rest, so he should be ready to go to a new home around the third week of January 2015.

Bowie appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Bowie was adopted on January 13, 2015 by a couple from Ohio who have a female Miniature Schnauzer to keep Bowie company.

Rescue Schnoodle Freddy

Freddy is an about 1 year old Schnauzer-Poodle mix who we rescued from the Orange County shelter. He weighs about 21 lbs.

Freddy was adopted from the shelter and returned by adopters who said he was aggressive with other dogs and with children. We have not had him around children but he is fine with other dogs and is effusively friendly with adults. He was licking us within minutes after we got him to Palmdale.

Freddy appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Freddy was adopted on Jaunary 11, 2015.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Magda

Magda is a friendly little Miniature Schnauzer / Lhasa Apso mix who was rescued from the Ramona Humane shelter by our friends at Desert Ark who then asked if we could take her because she looks more Schnauzer than Lhasa. Magda is about 2 years old and weighs about 13 lbs.

Magda loves people and gets along well with other dogs.

Magda appears to be in good health. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations.

Magda was adopted on January 4, 2015 by two ladies who adore her. Thanks very much to our friends at Animal Rescue of Fresno (ARF) for finding Magda her great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Anthony

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Anthony Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Anthony

Anthony is a very cute and super sweet Schnauzer / Schipperke mix who we rescued from the Barstow shelter. At most shelters, Anthony would have been adopted quickly, but Barstow is in the mountains north east of L.A. and they don't get many adopters or rescues out there. He is about 2 years old and weighs about 22 lbs.

Anthony is a happy guy who loves everyone and gets along well with other dogs. However, Anthony can climb chain link fencing. Accordingly, he will need a home with block walls around the yard or some type of fencing that he cannot climb.

Anthony appears to be in good health. He is microchipped and up to date on vaccinations, and will be neutered before placement.

Anthony is our first placement of 2015. He was adopted by a gentleman from Sonora on January 3, 2015.
