California Miniature
Schnauzer Rescue
—Rescued Dogs In New Homes 2016

California Miniature Schnauzer Rescue re-homed more than 100 Miniature Schnauzers and other dogs during 2015. In addition, we helped pull many more dogs for out of town rescues. Most of these were dogs who were about to be euthanized if the out of town rescues had not agreed to take them.

We thank our volunteers, our fosters, and our donors. Without their wonderful help, many of those dogs would have died instead of enjoying their lives in great new homes.

101 Dogs Adopted in 2016

Rescue Terrier Puppy Sabrina

Photo of Rescue Terrier Puppy Sabrina Photo of Rescue Terrier Puppy Sabrina

Sabrina is a really cute tiny terrier (about 10 lbs) who we rescued from the South Los Angeles shelter with a fractured pelvis. Fortunately, Sabrina just needs cage rest to heal.

Sabrina was scared and snappy when we got her but she has morphed into a happy little girl who loves to play with people and with other dogs.

Sabrina appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Sabrina was adopted on December 31, 2016 by a family from La Cañada. She joins former CMSR Schnauzers Scarlett, Lola and Richie, and a Jack Russell Terrier named Bella.

Rescue Schnauzer Richie

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Richie Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Richie

Richie is a delightful Miniature Schnauzer who we rescued from the Riverside shelter with a dislocated hip and a badly wounded paw. He had a femoral head osteotomy on November 9, 2016 to repair the dislocated hip and his paw was sewn up.

Richie is on the larger end of the range for a male Miniature Schnauzer. He is about 16" tall and weighs about 26 lbs. The shelter estimated him to be about 4 years old. We think is around 3 to 4 years old.

Richie is a good looking guy. Richie was very hairy and matted when we got him. We did a quick body shavedown before his surgery. The photos were taken just after surgery. He will look a lot more handsome after he is properly groomed.

Richie is on the quiet side. He is friendly with people and likes other dogs. He appears to be housebroken and does not bark a lot.

Richie appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Richie was adopted on December 31, 2016 by a family from La Cañada. He joins Scarlett, Lola, and Sabrina, who were adopted from CMSR, and a very sweet Jack Russell Terrier named Bella. Richie will be the only male dog with 4 female dogs who will attend to his every desire. (Yeah, right!)

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Puppy Maria

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Puppy Maria Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Puppy Maria

Maddy and Maria are 2 of 8 puppies who came to us with their mom, Marlo, from the Moreno Valley shelter on May 21, 2016 when they were 10 days of age. Marlo and the other 6 puppies (4 boys and 2 girls) have been adopted. They each weigh about 15 lbs.

Maddy and Maria are both outgoing and friendly, as are their siblings, as a result of having had the great luck to be raised by Marlo and the Nagels.

Maddy and Maria seem to be generally in good health. They are microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Maria was adopted in mid-December 2016. Thanks very much to our friends at Animal Rescue of Fresno and Southern Oregon Humane for finding Maria a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Benson

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Benson Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Benson

We rescued Benson from the Devore shelter after he was seized from a hoarder situation. Benson is about 4 years old and weighs about 15 lbs.

Benson is a happy little guy who loves to play with people and with other dogs. He really deserves a great home now after being surrendered into a hoarder situation and then being cooped up for about 2 months at the Devore shelter.

Benson appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Benson was adopted in mid-December 2016. Thanks very much to our friends at Animal Rescue of Fresno and Southern Oregon Humane for finding Benson a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Devin

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Devin

We rescued Devin from the Devore shelter. He was on the euthanasia list, not because there was anything wrong with him, but solely because they were so full due to having done a major seizure from an animal hoarder. Devin is about 2 years old, and weighs about 18 lbs.

Devin is a high energy little guy who loves people. He is okay with some dogs but not with others. He did like senior Schnauzer Elvis.

Devin seems to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Devin was adopted on December 6, 2016 by the family who adopted Harriet earlier. Thanks to our friends at Humane Society of Tuolumne County for helping firn Devin his new home and his new girlfriend.

Rescue Schnauzer Trent

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Trent Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Trent

Trent's @#$*& owner in Tijuana brought him to a veterinarian to be euthanized because they said they no longer had room for him. The wonderful veterinarian was not about to kill a healthy friendly dog, so he contacted Yolanda Escobar, a San Diego rescuer, who asked if we could take Trent. Of course, we said yes.

Trent is on the larger end of the size range for a Miniature Schnauzer. He weighs about 20 lbs and is about 4 years old. Trent had a weird hairdo when we got him. We trimmed him as best we could, but he will look much more handsome when his eyebrows grow back in.

Trent is a friendly little guy who loves being patted and gets along well with other dogs.

Trent appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Trent was adopted on December 7, 2016 by a family from West Hollywood. He will have a Schnoodle about his own age to play with.

Rescue Schnauzer Mr. T 4153

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mr. T

Mr. T may have a tough guy name, but this pooch is a gentle, loving senior looking for his perfect match! Mr. T traveled up the coast from Southern California to be a part of Muttville and Muttville couldn’t be happier to have him.

Mr. T is so easy going and friendly and has no problems getting along with other dogs of all sizes. Mr. T wants nothing more than to spend his golden years as someone’s BFF and cuddle buddy.

Mr. T appears to be between 10 to 12 years young, and weighs about 12 lbs.

Mr. T was adopted on December 3, 2016. Thanks very much to our friends at Muttville in San Francisco for finding Mr. T his new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Mrs. Claus 4235

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Lucy Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Lucy

Mrs. Claus is a very sweet Miniature Schnauzer who was surrendered to us because her owner was no longer able to care for her. Believe it or not, Mrs. Claus is about 11. However, she must have been drinking from the fountain of youth because she does now look or act her age. Mrs. Claus weighs about 18 lbs.

Mrs. Claus is on the quieter side. She loves people and gets along well with other dogs. She appears to be housebroken.

Mrs. Claus appears to be generally in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Mrs. Claus was adopted on December 2, 2016. Thanks very much to our friends at Muttville in San Francisco for finding her a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Preston

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Preston Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Preston

We rescued Preston from the brand new L.A. County shelter in Palmdale. He is about 1 to 2 years ago and weighs about 15 lbs.

Preston is one of the nicest Schnauzers we've ever had. He loves people and other dogs. We haven't had him around young kids or cats yet so we do not know for sure how he would be around them.

Preston appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

Preston was adopted on November 25, 2016 by a family from Lake Isabella who have another Schnauzer to play with Preston.

Rescue Seniors Pebbles 4155 and Bam Bam 4156

Both of these cuties are great with other dogs, love meeting new people and still have plenty of pep in their steps! Pebbles and Bam Bam are a dream to walk on leash and have some of the best cuddling skills around. This fantastic pair would make great additions to any home!

Pebbles and Bam Bam both appear to be between 8 and 10 years young, and weigh about 10 lbs.

Rescue Schnauzer Elvis Presley

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Elvis PresleyPhoto of Rescue Schnauzer Elvis Presley

When he heard “You ain't nothing but a hound dog” playing on the radio, Presley' response was “Don't you know a purebred Schnauzer when you see one?” We got Presley from the Pasadena shelter, which had aged him as 14, but we think he is more like 9 or 10.

Presley is a really nice dog who loves people and gets along with other dogs. Even Devin, who doesn't always like other dogs, became instant friends with Presley. Presley clearly is not a puppy, but he has a lot of energy for an older guy.

Presley seems to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

Presley was adopted in November 2016. Thanks very much to our friends at Peace of Mind Dog Rescue for finding Presley his new forever home.

Rescue Schnauzer Ana Laura

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Laura Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Laura

Ana Laura came to us from rescuer Ana Luisa Villaescusa in Ensenada. (We've shortened her name to Laura.) Laura is about a year old and weighs about 15 lbs. She has natural ears and a natural (undocked) tail.

Laura's personality is as great as her looks. She loves everyone, loves other dogs, and loves to play.

Laura appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped. She will be current on vaccinations before placement.

Laura was adopted on November 13, 2016 by a family from Oxnard. She joins a 5 year old male Schnauzer named Jackson.

Rescue Schnauzers Alex and Alice

Photo of Rescue Schnauzers Alex and Alice Photo of Rescue Schnauzers Alex and Alice

Alex and Alice need a new home because their owner suffered a severe stroke and passed away. Alex is 3 years old and Alice is 4 years old. Alice is spayed. Alex will be neutered before placement. Alice is a salt & pepper. Alex is a black & silver.

Both Alex and Alice have natural ears and docked tails. Both love everyone. They are good with kids. Both are good with female dogs, but Alex will try to establish dominance over other male dogs. Both seem to be okay with cats.

Both appear to be in good health. Both are current on vaccinations.

Alex and Alice were adopted on November 13, 2016 by a family from Indian Wells.

Rescue Schnauzer Bradley

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Bradley Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Bradley

We rescued Bradley from the Imperial Valley Humane shelter in El Centro. Thanks very much to some very nice volunteers there for alerting us to Bradley and transporting him part way for us.

The shelter listed Bradley's age at 4 months, but he looks more like 10 months to us. He has cropped ears and a docked tail. More importantly, Bradley is one of the nicest dogs there is. He was a bit shy when we got him—not surprising after being picked up by animal control, spending time at the shelter, then being bathed and transported to us in Temecula. However, it took Bradley all of 90 seconds before he was licking faces.

Bradley clearly loves people and we're told he got along fine with the other dogs with whom he was kenneled at the shelter.

Bradley seems to be generally in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, and current on DA2P and Bordetella vaccinations. We will get him his rabies vaccination before he is placed.

Bradley was adopted on November 12, 2016 by a family from Ladera Ranch. He joins a 4 year old Schnoodle named Mikey.

Rescue Schnoodle Norton

Photo of Rescue Schnoodle NortonPhoto of Rescue Schnoodle Norton

Norton is a super nice Schnoodle we rescued from the L.A. City North Central shelter with a fractured pelvis. Luckily, Norton only needed cage rest so he was spared the pain of surgery and CMSR was spared the expense of surgery.

Norton is about 2 years old and weighs about 20 lbs. He is cream colored with a little apricot on his rump.

Norton loves both people and other dogs. He is, simply, a nice nice dog! He hasn't had the run of the house because he needs cage rest, but he hasn't had any accidents going in or out of the house.

Norton seems to be generally in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

Norton was adopted on November 11, 2016 by a family from Reno where he joins a female Miniature Schnauzer and a female German Shorthair Pointer.

Rescue Schnauzer Lulu 4154

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Lulu

A stray no longer, Lulu is ready to find her forever home!

Lulu has been through a lot of transitions lately, so she can seem a bit shy when you first meet her. All it takes is some time, patience and a little TLC for Lulu to come out of her shell to show her silly side! Lulu loves her daily strolls in the sunshine and cuddle time on the couch. What’s not to love about this precious senior?

Lulu seems to be between 9 and 11 years young, and weighs about 13 lbs.

Lulu was adopted on November 11, 2016. Thanks very much to our friends at Muttville who helped find Lulu her new home.

Rescue Terrier Mix Indiana Jones

Photo of Rescue Terrier Mix Indiana Jones Photo of Rescue Terrier Mix Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones, Indy for short, is a super cute terrier puppy who somehow landed up with a fractured pelvis before we rescued him from the Inland Valley shelter in Pomona. Luckily, Indy only needs cage rest.

Indy is about 8 months old. He weighs about 12 lbs. He is black and tan. He is a long, low guy.

Indy is a high energy puppy who loves both people and other dogs, and loves to play, play, play. He hasn't had the run of the house because he needs cage rest, but he hasn't had any accidents going in or out of the house.

Indy seems to be generally in good health. He is microchipped, and current on vaccinations. He will be neutered before placement.

Indy was adopted on November 7, 2016 by a retired couple from Alpine. Indy will be their only dog and thus will have their full attention.

Rescue Schnauzer Rita

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Rita Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Rita

Rita is a super cute, super friendly Miniature Schnauzer with natural ears and natural tail who we rescued from the Riverside shelter. Poor Rita was infested with ticks and foxtails when she came into the shelter, but her much bigger problem was that she had a broken leg. The shelter got rid of the ticks and foxtails and we got her broken leg fixed. The shelter estimated Rita's age at 3, but we think she is likely closer to 1 year old.

Rita loves people and other dogs. At the vet's, she insists on going around the waiting room to greet everyone there.

Rita is fully healed now and ready for a new home.

Rita weighs about 15 lbs. She appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

Rita was adopted on November 5, 2016 by a family from Greenbrae.

Rescue Schnauzer Olive

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer OlivePhoto of Rescue Schnauzer Olive

Olive is a purebred salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer with natural ears and a docked tail. We rescued Olive from the Orange County shelter. We estimate her age at about 4. She weighs about 15 lbs.

Olive was snappy when we first got her but she has calmed down a lot and has become affectionate. However, she would not be suitable for a home with small children. She gets along well with other dogs, and seems to be okay with cats.

Olive appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Olive was adopted on November 5, 2016 by a family from Geyserville who has previously adopted from us.

Rescue Schnauzer Sierra

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Sierra Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Sierra

We rescued Sierra from the SEAACA shelter in Downey. We have held off listing her because it appeared that she might be pregnant. As it turns out, she was not. Sierra is about 14 lbs and appears to be between 1 and 2 years old.

Sierra is a high energy puppy who loves everyone and loves to play with other dogs.

Sierra seems to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

Sierra was adopted on November 2, 2016 by a family from Pacific Palisades. She joins a 4 year old male Schnauzer named Paolo.

Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Texas

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Texas Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Texas

Texas' handicapped owner, who had bought him only a month earlier, surrendered Texas to us because she needed to go for surgery and had no-one to care for him. Texas is about 8 months old. He weighs about 15 lbs.

Texas is friendly, but a bit on the timid side. Just hold your hand out to him, however, and he will make friends in a minute or two. He gets along well with other dogs.

Texas appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Texas was adopted on October 29, 2016 by a lady from Beaverton, OR.

Rescue Schnoodle Nathan (now Lucky)

Photo of Rescue Schnaoodle Nathan Photo of Rescue Schnoodle Nathan

We rescued Nathan from the L.A. North Central shelter where poor Nathan found himself with a broken tibia and other problems. The shelter had listed him as 10 years old but we don't think he is any more than 5 years old since he has nice white teeth. Nathan was about 11 lbs when he came into the shelter but will probably be about 13 lbs at normal weight.

Nathan is a bit on the shy side but enjoys being patted and loves other dogs.

When we got him, Nathan had a broken tibia (the lower bone in his hind leg), a detached Achilles tendon, and undescended private parts. His broken bone and Achilles tendon have been repaired and he has been neutered. Nathan has a large cataract in one eye, but it does not seem to affect him at all.

Nathan's surgeon says he expects Nathan to make a full recovery. Nathan's splint and cone came off on September 24. As of October 6, about 8 weeks since his surgery, Nathan is starting to put more and more weight on his leg. We were told that it will take until about October 15 before he is walking normally again.

Nathan appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Nathan was adopted on October 27, 2016 by a retired lady from Oceanside who renamed him “Lucky.”

Rescue Schnauzer / Shih Tzu Mix Oreo 4034

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Oreo

Oreo is quite the sweet treat! This lovable fella has traveled all the way up the coast from LA to be a part of Muttville and we couldn’t be happier to have him. Oreo has been shuffled around a bit lately, so he’s more than ready to finally find his forever home.

Oreo is super easy going and gets along well with dogs of all sizes. He likes to spend his days sunbathing, getting belly rubs and going for strolls with his human buddies. We think Oreo would make a great addition to any home!

We think Oreo is between 9–11 years young, weighing about 10 lbs.

Watch Oreo walking around Muttville's office

Oreo was adopted around October 23, 2016. Thanks very much to our friends at Muttville in San Francisco for finding Oreo a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Tyson

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Tyson Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Tyson

Tyson is the biggest love bug you will ever meet. This 1-year-old will greet you at the door with kisses and entertain you with some tug-of-war or fetch. He knows some basics like sit and is potty trained, but needs to learn some manners especially around other dogs and how to be home alone. He's building his socialization and relaxation skills with his foster family.

Tyson's ideal home would be with a forever family that is ready for a young doggie, who has time to hang out with him and continue teaching him manners and new things. He is smart and is treat/affection motivated, which makes him a fast learner.

Tyson has a natural tail and ears. He is fully vaccinated, neutered, and is in good health.

Check out a video of Tyson playing outdoors, https://youtu.be/AkvQnSuEzbE, and another of him playing indoors, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMNd4bdRfKs

Tyson was adopted on October 16, 2016 by a family in Cool, CA, who have adopted from us before. Tyson will join a female Rottweiler mix who much misses her Schnauzer buddy who recently passed away.

Rescue Schnasset Hound Gordon

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Gordon Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Gordon

Hope for Paws rescued Gordon and asked us to foster him and find him a new home. Gordon appears to be about 2 years old. He is a bit shy but warms up to people and other dogs once he gets to know them, and is definitely a neat little dog.

We have decided that Gordon is likely a Schnasset Hound since he has the head and coat of a Miniature Schnauzer and the body shape of a Basset Hound.

Gordon is in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

Gordon was adopted on October 16, 2015 by a family from Fairfield. He will be the only dog in the family.

Rescue Schnauzer Unique

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Unique Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Unique

We rescued Unique from the South Los Angeles shelter. Unique was the name she had been given by her former owners who surrendered her because they did not want to deal with her skin problems. When we got her, Uniquewas wearing a cone so that she would not scratch herself raw. But after only a couple of weeks with us on a decent diet, she is doing much better and has entered the cone-free zone. Unique has cropped ears and a docked tail.

Unique is on the small side, weighing about 11 lbs. The shelter estimated her age at 7 but she seems like she might be a bit younger. She's been getting livelier since she has started feeling better. She will look a lot cuter once her beard grows back in.

Unique is super friendly and gets along with other dogs.

Unique seems to be generally in good health. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and has had a dental done.

Unique was adopted on October 14, 2016 by a family from Oregon, who previously adopted two senior medical Schnauzers from us, one of whom has passed away. The family decided to adopt Unique because the other was lonely without his buddy. Thanks very much to St. Martin's Animal Rescue for helping arrange the adoption.

Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Markus

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Puppy MarkusPhoto of Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Markus

Markus was 10 days old when he came to us from the Moreno Valley shelter, along with his mom, Marlo, sisters Maddy, Mtzi, Misha, and Maria, and brothers Milo, Myka, and McHale. Thanks to the great care of the Nagels and mom Marlo, all 8 have bloomed into happy, outgoing little puppies

Markus is microchipped and current on vaccinations. His adopters have agreed to have him neutered as soon as their vet thinks it is advisable to do so.

Markus was adopted on October 14, 2016 by a family from Lancaster who have a terrier mix with whom Markus can play.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Puppy Cookie

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Puppy Cookie Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Puppy Cookie

Cookie is a sweet 8 month old Schnauzer mix puppy.

Cookie has lived most of her life alone in a backyard with no other dogs, no walks, and very little attention. She spent her last miserable day at her owners' house sitting in a hole she dug in the pouring rain. Her rescuers learned that she had never had a toy—she would dig up little rocks and self play.

Cookie is now with a foster family who are showing her what it is to be loved and to have a wonderful puppy life! Cookie has proved to be a quick learner and very sweet. Cookie says she would prefer a home with no small children but would very much like a home with another friendly dog with whom she can play.

Cookie is spayed, micro-chipped, and up to date on her vaccinations.

Cookie was adopted on October 12, 2016 by her long-term fosters in the San Fernando Valley.

Rescue Cairn Terrier Mix Tori

Photo of Rescue Cairn Terrier Mix Tori Photo of Rescue Cairn Terrier Mix Tori

Tori is a happy little senior Cairn Terrier mix. She hasn't met anyone or any dog who she does not firmly believe will be her next best friend.

Tori is about 9 years old and weighs about 16 lbs.

Tori is in good health. Tori is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and she just had a dental.

Tori was adopted on October 12, 2016 by her long term foster in the Sacramento area.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Dilbert

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Dilbert

We rescued Dilbert from the Devore shelter hours where he had been taken as part of a large seizure from a hoarder situation. Devore had made poor little Dilbert Rescue Only because he was scared and snappy—and who could blame him for being scared after all he had been through. Fortunately, he reverted to his happy little self as soon as we got him out of there and he knew he was with people who loved him.

We groomed Dilbert and he was a good boy during grooming. He's had roommates both at Devore and with us and gets along well with other dogs.

The shelter estimated Dilbert's age as 6, which is probably about right. Dilbert weighs about 12 lbs.

Dilbert seems to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and has had a dental done.

Dilbert was adopted on October 8, 2016 by a lady from Arnold. Thanks very much to our friends at Humane Society of Tuolumne County for helping find Dilbert a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Jackson

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Jackson

We rescued Jackson from the Apple Valley shelter. Jackson is a big boy, about 25 lbs, but he seems never to have met anyone he didn't like. Jackson has natural ears and a docked tail. He appears to be about 5 years old.

Jackson loves both people and other dogs.

Jackson seems to be generally in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

Jackson was adopted on October 6, 2016 by a family from Brea. He will be the only dog, so he will have their full attention.

Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Milo

Photo of Marlo Puppy Milo

Milo was 10 days old when he came to us from the Moreno Valley shelter, along with his mom, Marlo, sisters Maddy, Mtzi, Misha, and Maria, and brothers Markus, Myka, and McHale. Thanks to the great care of the Nagels and mom Marlo, all 8 have bloomed into happy, outgoing little puppies

Milo is microchipped and current on vaccinations. His adopters have agreed to have him neutered as soon as their vet thinks it is advisable to do so.

Milo was adopted on October 3, 2016 by a family from Lancaster who have an older friendly German Shepherd with whom Milo can play.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Danny

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix David

We rescued the very cute little Danny from the Devore shelter hours before he was to be euthanized because he had a broken pelvis. The shelter had listed him as 6 years old but he he appears to be less than 1 year old. In fact, Danny still had a couple of retained puppy teeth that had the vet pull when Danny was neutered. We haven't weighed Danny but he is probably about 10 lbs.

Danny is a really happy little guy who loves people and other dogs. Despite being in pain when we first took him to the vet, you could heat the wap, wap, wap of his tail hitting the inside of the crate while we waited in the vet's office.

Danny's orthopedic surgeon said that Danny would likely do as well with cage rest as with surgery. He was right. Danny is now running around and playing happily.

Danny seems to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Danny was adopted on September 17, 2016 by a retired lady from Jamestown. He will be the only dog in the house and will thus have her full attention. Thanks to our friends at Humane Society of Tuolumne County for helping find Danny his new home.

Rescue Terrier Mix Tyson

Photo of Rescie Terrier Mix Tyson

We rescued Tyson from the Lancaster shelter. He was somewhat fearful and snappy when he first came into the shelter but calmed down soon as can be seen in his adoption photo. Tyson is about 2 years old and weighs about 15 lbs.

Tyson is a sweetie who gets along well with other dogs.

Tyson appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Tyson was adopted on September 17, 2016. Thanks very much to our friends at Aberdeen Scottish Terreir Rescue for finding Tyson a great new home.

Rescue Standard Schnauzer Bowser

Photo of Rescie Standard Schnauzer Bowser

We rescued Bowser from the Lancaster shelter. Not only does he have the good looks, he has a great personality to match. Bowser traveled up the coast from Los Angeles to be a part of Muttville and Muttville found him a new home in a couple of days!

Bowser is social with dogs of all sizes and likes to mingle with his human pals. He may be considered a senior, but he still has plenty of pep in his step and enjoys his afternoon walks. We think Bowser is simply perfect!

Bowser is between 10-12 years young, and weighs about 35 lbs.

Bowser appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Bowser was adopted on September 11, 2016 by a lady from Albany. Thanks very much to our friends at Muttville for finding Bowser a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Max

Photo of Rescie Terrier Mix Max

We rescued Max from the Lancaster shelter. He is a super-sweet dog, but no-one was taking him and we decided he needed to get out of there. Max is about 8 years old and weighs 18 lbs.

Max loves people and other dogs.

Max appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations, and we had a dental done on him.

Max was adopted on September 2, 2016. Thanks very much to our friends at Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue for finding Max a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Elsa

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Elsa Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Elsa

Elsa was surrendered to us by a couple who could no longer afford to keep her when she got an abscess for the second time as a result of a foxtail incursion. Elsa is about 3 1/2 years old. She has natural ears and tail.

Elsa is a sweetie. She loves both people and other dogs.

Elsa's former owners cut her beard and leg hair short to minimize grooming needs. She will look prettier when they grow back in and she is properly groomed.

Elsa seems to be generally in good health. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and we just had her teeth cleaned.

Elsa was adopted on August 27, 2016 by a family from Manhattan Beach. She joins Rocky, a 12 year old rescue terrier mix.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Obi-Wan Kenobi

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Obi-Wan Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Obi-Wan

Obi-Wan is a Schnauzer mix who we rescued from the Orange County shelter with a broken femur and an injured pelvis. The shelter estimated his age at 5, but he looks and acts as though he is between 1 and 2 years old. Obi-Wan weighs about 19 lbs. He is a tall lanky guy, almost like he might be a Schnauzer/Whippet mix.

Obi-Wan is a sweet dog. He is a little shy with people until he gets to know them (and then starts licking their faces) but he loves playing with other dogs. He appears to be housebroken.

Obi-Wan's surgery cost more than $3,000. We want to thank Hope For Paws and Lifeline4Paws for their generous help with Obi-Wan's expenses, as well as those who kindly donated through PayPal and GoFundMe.

Obi-Wan is in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations. He is still not putting weight on his injured leg all the time, but he does so more and more.

Obi-Wan was adopted on August 27, 2016 by a family from Modesto with two sons. Obi-Wan will get lots of attention as the only dog in the home--but we understand he is trying to talk his new family into adopting a second dog. Thanks much to Obi-Wan's foster, Lauren Warddrip, for taking such good care of Obi-Wan until he was adopted.

Rescue Terrier Puppy TimmyTu

Photo of Rescue Terrier Puppy TimmyTu Photo of Rescue Terrier Puppy TimmyTu

KimmiLu and TimmyTu are two very sweet terrier puppies, probably just under a year old, who were found running loose in the high desert near Lancaster. Their finder turned them over to us because they had no microchips and no-one responded to the lost dog signs their finder had posted.

KimmiLu and TimmyTu both love people and other dogs.

TimmyTu seems to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

TimmyTu was adopted in the summer of 2016. Thanks very much to our friends at Animal Rescue of Fresno (ARF) and Southern Oregon Humane for finding TimmyTu his new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Antonio

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Antonio

Our friends at Muttville told us that they had an adopter looking for a 7–9 year old Miniature Schnauzer and asked if we had a nice one.

We didn't have any in northern Caliifornia, but just about then Peninsula Humane asked for our help in placing Antonio. Our Vice-President, Nicole Birdsall, went to check out Antonio and found he was just what Muttville’s adopter was looking for. So, we pulled Antonio and Nicole kindly drove him to Muttville in San Francisco.

Nicole's judgment was spot on because Muttville's adopter came to see him the next day and adopted him immediately.

Antonio was adopted on August 22, 2016.

Rescue Schnauzer Marlo

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Marlo Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Marlo

What's a girl to do when her @#$%$ owners dump her at the high kill Moreno Valley shelter with 8 newborn puppies? Call CMSR, of course!

Marlo's puppies were about 10 days old when we got the call and rushed out to get her on a Saturday morning. The shelter said Marlo was sweet but very defensive around her puppies. Marlo was sweet, but she loved to show off her puppies once she knew she was now with friends. Marlo has been a great Mom. Her puppies were clean and well-fed when we got them and they still are. She had 4 boys and 4 girls. The puppies are all outgoing and friendly, as a result of having the great luck to be raised by Marlo and the Nagels.

Marlo is a bit timid with strangers but warms up to them quickly. She gets along well with other dogs

Marlo looks to be about 1 to 2 years old.

Marlo seems to be generally in good health. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

Marlo was adopted on August 13, 2016 by a family from Temecula.

Rescue Schnauzer Jasper

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Jasper Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Jasper (R) with Biscuit (L)

Jasper is probably about 9 months to 1 year old. He has natural ears and a docked tail. He is darker in color than he appears in the left photo—we lightened the photo up a bit so he could be better seen.

Jasper is very friendly and very energetic. He loves people and gets along with other dogs.

Jasper seems to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Jasper was adopted on August 6, 2016 by a family from Valencia. He joins a female Miniature Schnauzer named Biscuit, who is enjoying having a new companion. As for Jasper, who wouldn't be happy with a new girlfriend?

Photo of Rescue Standard Schnauzer Lala Photo of Rescue Standard Schnauzer Lala

We rescued Lala from the Animal Friends of the Valleys shelter in Wildomar. We guesstimate that Lala is 5 to 6 years old.

Lala is a big girl, almost the size of a Standard Schnauzer. She measures about 16.5" at the shoulder, about 1/2" under the size limit for a Standard. She weighs about 30 lbs. As can be seen from the photos, Lala loves her food. We are working on getting her sexy girlish figure back.

Photo of Rescue Standard Schnauzer Lala

Lala is effusively friendly with people. She gets along well with other dogs, except that she gets jealous when someone pays more attention to another dog than to her.

Lala seems to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

We would very much like to place Ricky and Molly together because they have lived most of their lives together and are extremely close.

Photo of Rescue Schnauzesr Ricky & Molly

Both appear to be in good health. They are neutered, spayed, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Drake is neutered and up to date on vaccinations.

Rescue Terrier Lisa

Photo of Rescue Terrier Lisa Photo of Rescue Terrier Lisa

Lisa's is a very sad story with a happy ending. Lisa and Roberta were found, both pregnant, wandering around loose in Ensenada by rescuer Ana Luisa Villaescusa. Roberta had her puppies very soon there after. We took Lisa because Ana Luisa couldn't handle two litters at once. About a week after we got her, Lisa spontaneously aborted her puppies, ran a high temperature, and became seriously anemic. We had to have her transfused and an emergency spay done (at great expense).

The first photo was taken right after she came home from the emergency vet's. The second was taken more recently.

Lisa is a super sweet little dog who LOVES everyone and is good with other dogs.

Lisa is spayed. She will be microchipped and current on vaccinations before placement.

Lisa was adopted on July 6, 2015 by one of the ladies who works at our vet's office and fell in love with Lisa.

Dude seems to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations, and we had a dental done on him.

Rescue Schnauzer Missy

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Missy Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Missy Missy is ready to celebrate her Independence Day with high hopes of having a new, forever home by July 4th. We estimate her age at about 10–12. She weighs 18 pounds— just the right size to travel in an RV with an active retired couple, or share a condo with a single senior.

Missy was a pitiful mess when CMSR rescued her from the Stanislaus Animal Shelter in Modesto. She suffered from a smelly skin infection due to untreated flea infestation. She had lost much of her hair and needed a dental badly. Despite her condition Missy had a positive attitude and quickly settled into her foster family. She gets along great with the 3 other dogs.

Missy has had a senior blood panel with good results and came through her dental with a few extractions like a trooper. She is feeling and looking much better these days. After medicated baths and a some grooming, she is starting to look like a real Mini-Schnauzer.

Missy loves walks around the block, and loves to hop up on the sofa and curl up next to you. She would love to sleep on the bed with you, although she sleeps all night long in a crate in the bedroom with her foster family, without complaint. Missy is house-trained would be perfectly happy with a small yard. She has plenty of love an affection to give and looks forward to living out her retirement years with another like minded human senior companion.

Missy was adopted on July 5, 2016 by a lady from Ripon, who has a male Schnauzer with whom Missy is quickly becoming fast friends.

Kennedy appears to be a sweet dog who likes people and gets along well with other dogs.

Kennedy seems to be in good health. He is microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. He will be neutered before placement.

Scott would be best in a quiet home without small children.

Ollie is a friendly little guy who gets along with other dogs. He has limited sight but sees well enough not to bump into walls. Take a look at his video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gR_3Lw2CBCU&feature=youtu.be.

Thanks very much to ASPCA and Pilots and Paws who helped us arrange for Ollie's flight, and to the pilots and their company which very generously flew both to San Francisco at no charge.

Rescue Dog Brandi

Photo of Rescue Dog Brandi Photo of Rescue Dog Brandi

Brandi was surrendered to us because she would jump the fence when her owners went out and then sit on their doorstep waiting for them to come home.

Brandi was relegated to the back yard because the husband was allergic to dogs—something you’d think her owners would have figured that out BEFORE acquiring Brandi.

Brandi is about 5 years old. We guesstimate she weighs about 50 lbs. She is a very pleasant dog. She was happy to have me pat her and didn’t show any fear or aggression. Brandi seems to get along well with other dogs.

Brandi was adopted on May 29, 2016 by a family in the Seattle area. Thanks very much to our friends at Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue for helping Brandi find a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Pippa, now Soca

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Pippa CMSR pulled Pippa from the South Los Angeles shelter and flew her to San Francisco to be a part of Muttville, since that was her best chance of getting adopted quickly.

Pippa is on the older side, and likes to live life in the slow lane. Although she’s on the mellow side, Pippa seemed to enjoy the company of the dogs and liked all the hustle and bustle at Muttville.

We think Pippa is between 12-14 years young, weighing about 12 lbs. Pippa is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Pippa was adopted on May 28, 2016 by the gentlemen in the photo who drove up to San Francisco from LA to get her. They renamed her Soca. Rescue Schnauzer Roger 3675

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Roger

Roger was surrendered for euthanasia to the Carlsbad shelter, along with his companion, Snuggles, who was 14 years old. We arranged for our friends at Muttville to take both but sadly, a day after first contacting us, the shelter advised that Snuggles was in kidney failure and had to be euthanized. So, we started arranging transportation for just Roger.

As it turned out, Roger rode in style. He was taken to the Palomar Airport across the street from the shelter, from where he flew to Lancaster to pick up his new buddy, Ollie, and the two then flew to San Francisco, where they were picked up by a Muttville volunteer for the car trip to Muttville.

Roger is 13 years young, but seems to be in pretty good health for his age. He is a lively and effusively friendly little guy. The pilots fell in love with him on his trip to Muttville.

Roger is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Roger was adopted in mid-May 2016. A big thank you to our friends at Muttville in San Francisco for finding Roger a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Ruby

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Ruby

Ruby is a white Miniature Schnauzer, with cropped ears and a docked tail. She is about 2 to 2 1/2 years old. Ruby was a surrender because her elderly owner could no longer care for her.

Ruby came to us after a short stay in a temporary home that was unable to keep her because they already had their quota of dogs. She gets along with other dogs but would be good as an only dog because she loves attention.

Ruby appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and has had a dental done.

Ruby was adopted on May 1, 2016 by a family from San Dimas who have a male named Rudy. We understand Rudy and Ruby have quickly become good friends.

Rescue Schnauzer Griffin

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Griffin

Griffin is housebroken and crate trained. He also sits on command.

Griffin is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Rescue Schnauzer Brian (now Curly Joe)

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Brian Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Brian

We rescued Brian from the Baldwin Park shelter. He was ill when he came in but has recovered and is now feeling well. He is probably between 1 and 2 years old, and weighs about 18 lbs.

Brian is one of those dogs who loves everyone and enjoys the company of other dogs.

Brian came into the shelter lethargic with bloody diarrhea. He seemed to be okay by the time we pulled him, but two weeks later the symptoms returned. After blood tests, an xray, and an ultrasound, it was determined he had a blockage between his stomach and intestines. He had surgery which revealed that he had had an undigested piece of corn cob in his stomach for quite some time. Brian has recovered from the surgery and is doing well, but the treatment cost about $2,400. A big thank you to Lifeline4Paws for kindly helping with part of the cost.

Brian seems to be in good health now.. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Brian was adopted on April 11, 2016 by a family from Anaheim who have adopted from us before.

Rescue Schnauzers Brian and Flower

Photo of Rescue Schnauzers Brian and Flower

Brian and Flower need a new home because their present owners are “an active family” and no longer “have the time” for them. Both are beautiful purebred Miniature Schnauzers. Brian is 7 years old. Flower is 9 years old.

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Brian

Brian likes to cuddle and be held, and enjoys walks. However, he is initially fearful of strangers and other dogs, barking at them until he is used to them and comfortable with them.

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Flower

Flower is more aloof and enjoys time spent alone. She too enjoys walks but will also bark at strangers and other dogs.

Brian and Flower appear to be in good health. They are neutered, spayed and up to date on vaccinations.

Brian and Flower were adopted on April 1, 2016 by a family from Mountain House. They will be the only dogs in the household, so they will still have each other and they will not have to share their adopters' attention with other dogs.

Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Schroeder

Their prior owner did not properly socialize the puppies, so they were very timid when we got them. Schroeder has spent time with fosters in Sonoma who have done a wonderful job of socializing him with the help of Barry, a super friendly Schnauzer mix, who they adopted from us last year.

Schroeder appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Schroeder was adopted on April 2, 2016 by a family from Sacramento. He joins a male Schnoodle . We hope the two boys will enjoy playing with each other.

Rescue Schnauzers Buck and Lady Bea

Buck, an 18 lb, 6 to 7 year old, black male Schnauzer and Lady Bea, a 14 lb, 3 year old, black and silver female Miniature Schnauzer, need a new home because their owner will soon be unable to care for them. Their owner wishes them to be adopted together.

Both are very loving and adore gentle kids, but have not been around toddlers. They haven't been socialized much with other dogs because of their owner's health problems.

Buck and Lady Bea appear to be in good health. Both are spayed, neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

Buck and Lady Bea were adopted on March 20, 2016 by a lady from Benecia. They get to stay together and they do not have to share their adopter's attention with any other dogs.

Rescue Schnauzer Ernie

Ernie came to us from Ana Luisa Villaescusa who found him roaming the streets in Ensenada. Ernie is probably between 1 and 2 years old and weighs about 18 lbs.

Ernie is a very sweet boy who gets along well with other dogs.

Ernie seems to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Ernie was adopted on March 18, 2016 by the same family from Quartz Hill that adopted Olive.

Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Shermy

Shermy is one of five 8 month old parti-colored Miniature Schnauzer puppies who were surrendered to us by their breeder and owner who was unable to care for them. Like the others, Shermy has natural ears and a docked tail. He weighs about 14 lbs.

Their prior owner did not properly socialize the puppies, so they were very timid when we got them, but they are starting to get more social.

Shermy appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Shermy and Charlie Brown were adopted in mid-March 2016 by the family that adopted Barkley last year, so the three boys are together again.

Rescue Schnauzer Monet

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Monet Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Monet

Monet is a cute female Miniature Schnauzer, about 10 years old, who was surrendered to the Animal Friends of the Valley in Wildomar by her former owners who were moving and did not take the trouble to find a new home to which they could take Monet.

Fortunately, Monet did not have to spend much time at the shelter because the shelter's rescue coordinator called us as soon as Monet came in and asked if we could help. We called one of our prior adopters and suggested that Oso could use some female company. They agreed and met us at the shelter the next day to get Monet.

Oso and Monet met as soon as the adopters got home with Monet. There wasn't much risk that things would not work out since both Oso and Monet like other dogs, but there was a sigh of relief when they met and liked each other. So, as of March 8, 2016, Monet is a happy resident of Murrieta.

Rescue Schnauzer Doodle

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Doodle Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Doodle

This is Doodle. He is a 10 year old male, salt and pepper, Miniature Schnauzer. He was rescued from a hoarding situation.

Doodle is good with other dogs, and with cats too. He is most content when snuggling in someone's lap. He's a good boy on car rides and sleeps peacefully in a crate or in your bed at night. He was living in squalor so he needs some work to house train.

Doodle needs a dental and has a grade 5 heart murmur but please don't let that discourage you. He's a special boy who has waited his whole life for a family of his own. He deserves to know what love is, especially, in his golden years. He is vaccinated and microchipped. He will be neutered before placement.

Doodle was adopted in early March 2016 by a lady in Cathedral City, who found Doodle on this website. She also adopted a second senior from the Coachella shelter at the same time. Both dogs are enjoying each other's company. Thanks very much to Elaine Denis for fostering Doodle.

Rescue Schnauzer Robert

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Robert Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Robert

Robert came to us from the Coachella Valley shelter, along with his sister, Robin, who has been adopted. He is about a year old. Robert has natural ears and a docked tail. Robert weighs about 15 lbs.

Robert is very affectionate with people but not good with other dogs because he is somewhat of a brat and wants all the toys and all the food.

Robert is not fully lead trained and would benefit greatly from some obedience classes.

Robert appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Robert was adopted on March 4, 2016 by a family from Tustin who formerly had a Standard Schnauzer. Robert will have their full attention as he will be the only dog in the household.

Rescue Schnauzer Jonah

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Jonah Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Jonah

Jonah is a very sweet salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer who is about 7 to 8 years old. He was surrendered to us when his owner lost his home. He's on the smaller end of the size range for a male Miniature Schnauzer. Unlike most of the Schnauzers we see in rescue, Jonah has cropped ears as well as a docked tail.

Jonah loves people and gets along well with other dogs. He growls occasionally, but it seems to be just “talking” rather than a sign of anger. He will, however, “push” to get his way if he thinks he can get away with it, so he'd probably be better in a home without small children.

Jonah is in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and heartworm negative.

Jonah was adopted on March 4, 2016 by a family from Ramona, CA. He joins a 16 year old female Miniature Schnauzer and an 8 year old male yellow lab.

Rescue Schnauzer Rhonda

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Rhonda Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Rhonda

Rhonda is a purebred parti-colored Miniature Schnauzer with natural ears and a docked tail. We rescued Rhonda from the Riverside County shelter. She is tiny for a Miniature Schnauzer—less than 10 lbs. The shelter estimated Rhonda's age as 10, largely because her teeth were in bad shape. We think she is probably more like 6 or 7.

Rhonda is a bundle of energy packed into a tiny body. In fact, when you see her dashing around, your first reaction would be that she is a puppy. She is very friendly with people. The shelter said she was dog aggressive, but that is not our experience with her. She gets very excited when seeing other dogs for the first time, and pulls hard on the leash when she sees one, but quiets down quickly after she and the other dog have a chance to sniff each other.

Rhonda appears to be in good health. She had pyometra (an infected uterus) when we got her, but surgery has taken care of that. Rhonda is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and had a dental on May 29.

Rhonda was adopted in early 2016 by her long term foster in Palmdale. She shares the home with 3 other dogs, but Rhonda rules the roost!

Rescue Dog Opie (formerly Oleg)

Photo of Rescue Dog Oleg Photo of Rescue Dog Oleg

We're not sure of Opie's parentage but he seems to resemble a Schnauzer/Italian Greyhound mix. We'd guesstimate that he is about 4 years old. We rescued him from the Orange County shelter. Opie weighs about 13 lbs.

Opie was a little on the timid side and a bit snappy. He had been shaved down when we got him. As his coat has grown out, so has his personality. Opie is now a happy friendly little guy who loves to be patted. He gets along well with other dogs. We originally called him Oleg, but Opie seems to better fit his new personality.

Opie appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Opie was adopted on February 13, 2016. Thanks to our friends at Rags to Wags Rescue for helping find Opie (now Odie) a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Ziggy 3526

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Ziggy

Ziggy is a purebred Miniature Schnauzer with cropped ears and a docked tail. He weighs about 13 lbs. He is estimated to be 8 to 10 years old. CMSR pulled him from the Lancaster shelter for Muttville.

Ziggy is a superstar of a dog who is ready to be the newest addition to your home! Not too big and not too small, Ziggy is the perfect size for both cuddle time on the couch and for walks in the sunshine.

Ziggy is such a happy-go-lucky senior, always ready to meet new people and other dogs. With his silly personality and dashing haircut, you’ll fall in love instantly!

Ziggy appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Ziggy was adopted in the third week of January 2016. Thanks very much to our friends at Muttville in San Francisco for finding Ziggy a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Scottie

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Scottie Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Scottie

Scottie is a sweet 5 year old Miniature Schnauzer who was surrendered to us because his former owner is no longer able to care for him. Scottie is way underweight at the moment but will likely be in the 18 to 20 lb range when we get his weight back to normal.

Scottie is a bit on the timid side but we expect him to become more social quickly now that he is around more people and other dogs. He was housebroken but is a little less so due to the fact that his owner was not taking him out regularly in the months before we got him.

Scottie appears to be in good health. He has seen the vet regularly. He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. He will be microchipped before placement if he isn't already chipped.

Scottie was adopted on January 13, 2016, by a family from Winnipeg Manitoba, who are wintering in Palm Springs. They found out about CMSR when they met Robin who had been adopted from us a couple of days earlier. Scottie joins a 5 year old male Bichon. The two dogs became instant friends.

Rescue Schnauzer Oso

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Oso Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Oso

Oso is a quiet, well-behaved Miniature Schnauzer who we rescued from the SEAACA shelter. The shelter estimated his age at about 6, which is probably about right. He weighs 22 lbs.

Oso is quiet and gentle. He like people and gets along well with other dogs.

Oso was limping a bit when we got him. He was diagnosed with spondylosis. After a week on antibiotics and painkillers, he seems to be okay. We are also giving him acupuncture treatments.

Oso seems to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations, and he has had a dental done.

Oso was adopted on January 13, 2016 by a family from Murrieta who has adopted from us before.

Rescue Schnauzer Robin

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Robin Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Robin

Robert and Robin came to us from the Coachella Valley shelter. They are about a year old. We believe they are littermates, though we cannot know for sure. Both have natural ears and docked tails. Robert weighs about 15 lbs and Robin weighs about 12 lbs.

Both Robert and Robin are very affectionate, though Robin is a bit more tentative. Neither however knows how to walk on a lead—though we are working on that—and they tend to lunge at other dogs, not because they are aggressive but simply because they don't seem to know yet how to behave around other dogs. Obviously, both would benefit greatly from some obedience classes.

Robin appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Robin was adopted on January 8, 2016 by a family from Nelson, BC, and Palm Springs, filling a void in the home left by the passing of their last Schnauzer.

Rescue Schnauzer Ava

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Ava Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Ava

Ava is a tiny 10 lb. Miniature Schnauzer who came to us from the Ramona Humane shelter in San Jacinto with help from Rick Apfelbeck. Ava represents the ultimate in battery technology—unlimited energy stored in a tiny package. The larger photo of her is a bit out of focus because she was running at full tilt. Darcel had to hold Ava for us to get a sharp photo. The shelter estimated Ava's age at 4 but we think she is likely more like 2 years old.

Ava was very frightened when we first got her. She is coming around, though she is still timid around strangers. Ava is a very sweet girl, however, who never snaps at anyone, and she loves playing with other dogs who aren't rough with her.

Ava appears to be in good health. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. We will have her microchipped before placement.

Ava was adopted on January 7, 2016 by her foster.
