California Miniature
Schnauzer Rescue
—Rescued Dogs In New Homes 2026

California Miniature Schnauzer Rescue re-homed about 10 Miniature Schnauzers and other dogs during 2025.

In addition, CMSR helped pull, transport and/or vet many dogs for out of town rescues. Most of these were dogs who were about to be euthanized if the out of town rescues had not agreed to take them. CMSR also helped fund the expenses for some Schnauzers and other dogs who were rescued by other rescues, whose expenses the rescues could not have afforded without CMSR's help.

We thank our volunteers, our fosters, our donors, and our partner rescue groups. Without their wonderful help, many of those dogs would have died instead of enjoying their lives in great new homes.

Walter and Willow are 7 year old and 5 year old Miniature Schnauzers, respectively. They needed a new home after their San Diego-area owners divorced and separated.

Walter and Willow are closely bonded. They are friendly with people and with other dogs.

Walter and Willow are in good health. They are spayed, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Walter and Willow were adopted together on January 18, 2025, by experienced Miniature Schnauzer owners, who had adopted from us before. Walter and Willow are now enjoying life in Santa Rosa.

Rescue Miniature Schnauzer Rex

Rex was found wandering the streets in South Los Angeles. His finder, Ixchel, rescued Rex and took him to ASPCA at the South Los Angeles shelter. ASPCA kindly bathed Rex, shaved him down, gave him antibiotics and vaccinated him. Ixchel then took Rex to her vet, who determined that Rex had a large bladder stone. Rex then had a cystotomy to remove the stone. Shortly thereafter, Ixchel contacted CMSR. CMSR agreed to take Rex into the rescue and to cover Rex’s medical expenses; and Ixchel agreed to foster Rex for us.

Rex is about 2 years old. He is friendly with people and with other dogs. He is okay with cats.

Rex appears to be in good health. He is neutered and current on vaccinations. However, Rex may need to stay on a prescription diet to avoid recurrence of bladder stones.

Res was adopted on January 17, 2026, by a lady who also adopted Foxy at the same time. At last report, Foxy and Rex were racing through the adopter's home, having a great time, and learning to play with their adopter's senior Chihuahua.

Foxy is an about 9 month old black and silver, female Miniature Schnauzer puppy. Foxy weighs about 12 lbs. We rescued Foxy from the San Bernardino City shelter, where she had been exposed to distemper. Fortunately, Foxy did not contract distemper.

Foxy is exuberantly friendly. She loves people and other dogs. However, she is a little mouthy, something we expect she will grow out of. She loves to lick faces. She enjoys playing with the other dogs at her foster home.

Being a puppy, Foxy needs some work on potty training and in walking on a lead.

Foxy appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.
